Swedish composer, musician and music producer. Founder and member of ABBA, whose members are immortalized at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the United States. Professor at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
In the 1960s, he performed with the Elverkets Spelmanslag group, and later became the keyboard player of the number one pop group Hep Stars in Sweden at the time. He then concentrated on working together with a member of the Hootenanny Singers group - Bjorn Ulvaeus. The duet with him eventually grew into the legendary ABBA quartet. In the late 90s, the group's songs will form the basis of the musical MAMMA MIA!, which will become one of the seven most successful and long-running musicals in the West End (has not left the stage since 1999 to this day), run daily on Broadway for over 14 years and will be produced in ten countries around the world. Andersson produced a sequel - MAMMA MIA! Here We Go Again.
He recorded three albums as part of the Swedish folklore group Orsa Spelmän as well as an instrumental album called “Piano” , in which he performed ABBA and CHESS music on the piano. Founder of the Benny Andersson Orchestra.
Benny Andersson wrote music for several films (including "The Seduction of Inga" and the Soviet-Swedish-Norwegian film adaptation of Astrid Lindgren's short story "Mio, my, Mio" directed by Vladimir Grammatikov in collaboration with Anders Eljas) and the opening song to the 1992 European Football Championship, which took place in Sweden.
Together with Ulvaeus, Andersson also released the musical Kristina från Duvemåla and became the producer of the musical and dining experience, MAMMA MIA! the party".
